White Bear Lake is home.
My name is Scott Arcand, and my family has deep roots in the White Bear Lake Area spanning over 150 years. My educational journey within the White Bear Lake Area Schools began in 1969 at Lincoln Elementary School. In 1975, my family moved across town, leading me to transfer to Parkview Elementary (now Matoska International IB World School). I later attended Sunrise Junior High School. During my middle school years, I developed a strong work ethic delivering morning and evening newspapers with my older brother, both of us earning recognition as outstanding paper carriers.
I attended Mariner High School, where I engaged in student government, showcased my talents in the school's talent show, and competed on the Track & Field Team. Additionally, I was actively involved in Junior Achievement, achieving accolades such as Company of the Year and Best Annual Report. I also had the opportunity to attend two Junior Achievement National Conferences during my high school years.
White Bear Lake Area Schools equipped me for a prosperous future. The fundamental skills, knowledge, and strong work ethic I acquired in school enabled me to achieve a Bachelor of Science in Education from St. Cloud State University, followed by a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning and a Doctorate in Leadership from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota.
The education I received from White Bear Lake Area Schools has empowered me to devote the past 36 years to enabling students to explore and successfully pursue careers. During this time, I've served as a middle school teacher, high school teacher, coach, administrator, and I am currently a Teaching and Learning Specialist for Career Technical Education. Additionally, I've had the privilege of raising my family in White Bear Lake, where all three of my children graduated from White Bear Lake High School.
Serving on the White Bear Lake School Board for the past 4 1/2 years, presently as its clerk, has been an honor. My dedication lies in ensuring that forthcoming graduates encounter similar pathways to success. My goal is to foster holistic development in each student, nurturing their academic excellence, guiding them along diverse career trajectories, broadening their global and cultural perspectives, and refining their capacity for critical thinking and adaptability. I envision them embodying traits of empathy, resilience, and accountability, vital for navigating the complexities of our evolving world.
